Suzi Bonnot* (Production Stage Manager) is delighted to be returning this summer after working on Guys and Dolls, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Always…Patsy Cline in 2017 and Austen’s Pride in 2016. Broadway: Angels in America, Groundhog Day, Old Times, Fun Home. New York: Classical Theatre of Harlem, The Fire This Time Festival, Target Margin Theater, Center for Contemporary Opera, Mannes Opera, The Drama League, Gallery Players, and NYMF. Regional: Syracuse Stage, The Hippodrome Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, and six summers at The Muny. Graduate of OCU.
Robert Bridge (Drums) is a Professor of Music at Onondaga Community College where he is chair of the music department. Robert has degrees from the University of North Texas (B.M.E.), Southern Methodist University (M.M.), and the Eastman School of Music (D. M. A. and “Performer’s Certificate.”) Robert performs regularly in the Syracuse area with the Society for New Music and Symphoria and can be heard on commercial recordings of both groups. His compositions for percussion are published by Warner Brothers and Kendor.
Michael Caporizzo (Guitar 1) is an educator, audio engineer, and guitarist who maintains a diverse and rewarding career in music. He holds a Master of Music degree in Guitar Performance as well as a Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology from Ithaca College, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Music. He is excited to return to Merry-Go-Round for Mamma Mia!. Previous MGR productions include Saturday Night Fever, Cats, Legally Blonde, Altar Boyz, and Hairspray.
Jeff Cox (Music Director) is a New York-based music director and conductor who has performed internationally and on Broadway. His NYC credits include The Band’s Visit (keyboard 2 sub.) and A Letter to Harvey Milk (piano/conductor sub). He has served as music director and arranger for a number of developmental works including Far From Canterbury, a new musical by award-winning composer Danny K. Bernstein. Other labs and workshops include Crazy For You directed by Susan Stroman and Austen’s Pride (music sup. Kevin Stites). Jeff is the music director for “The Unreachable Stars,” a concert featuring Broadway actors and musicians that have performed throughout China as well as the United States. He has also played on the national tour of Wicked and is a regular music director at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, where he has conducted the performances of Ghost: The Musical, Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical, and Always…Patsy Cline. Michael Fittipaldi (Bass) is excited to be a part of MGR’s 2018 season! Some of his favorite MGR productions include: Buddy – the Buddy Holly Story, The Full Monty, Altar Boyz, Legally Blonde, The Light in the Piazza, and Million Dollar Quartet. Michael is a member of the Albany Symphony and has performed with the RPO and Symphoria. Michael enjoys free-heel skiing and practicing Parkour with his family at Rochester Parkour. Many thanks to the amazing staff and crew for always making MGR a great place to be!
Tiffany Howard (Costume Designer) is ecstatic to begin her 10th season at FLMTF/MGR! After receiving her MFA from Texas Tech University and then teaching college for 5 years in Missouri, Tiffany found a happy home here in both the summer and Youth Theatre shops where we take on the task of teaching a whole new generation about the power of theatre. You may have seen some of her work in recent seasons, including the SALT Award-nominated Guys and Dolls, Parade, Best Little Whorehouse…, and Crazy for You. Favorite designs from past seasons include: Always, Patsy Cline; Oklahoma!; West Side Story; Lost Highway, The Hank Williams Story; The Marvelous Wonderettes; and Cabaret. Thank you to the amazing Costume Shop for all the work and laughter—and for making me look good! And a huge shout out to the Wardrobe Team (lead by Ashley Wilson) who makes miracles happen every day! Couldn’t do this without all of you! As always, a huge thank you and all my love to Geoff Howard – the best darn husband a girl could ask for.
John Patrick Jeanneret (Reed) is an accomplished musician, composer, and educator. He is a graduate of the Crane School of Music and the University of North Texas. In addition to his long career as a professional musician working in various genres, John has also performed with over 50 regional and national musical theatre productions. His compositions and arrangements have been played by various high schools, university groups, and professional ensembles. John is currently a music teacher in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District. www.johnjeanneret.com
Carl Lovell (Guitar 2) was brought up in a musical family. He played guitar in his family band for weddings and dances, and he had private lessons for several years while in school. After college, he has performed with many local bands and musicals such as Salt City’s Jesus Christ Superstar; Syracuse Stage productions of Hairspray and Avenue Q; Syracuse Symphony and Symphoria Pops concerts; and Famous Artists’ Matilda, Beautiful, Carole King Musical, and Motown the Musical. Between shows, Carl has backed up musical touring acts including Wayne Newton, The Platters, and The Drifters. He also teaches guitar at YMCA in Syracuse, and performs at festivals, the New York State Fair, Turning Stone Casino, and ceremonies and memorials throughout the region.
Daniel Mullarney (Assistant Music Director) is an Ithaca-based music director and Cayuga County music educator. He is currently receiving a masters in Musical Theatre/Opera Conducting from Ithaca College. Last year, he was the Assistant Music Director for Guys & Dolls at Merry-Go-Round and is the music director for their summer Musical Theatre Intensive Camp. He will be assisting on Xanadu at the Hangar Theatre later this summer. Dan is always beyond grateful to be a part of the Merry-Go-Round family and is honored to be a part of their 60th anniversary season!
Tony Neidenbach (Associate Choreographer) is thrilled to be back again this summer after serving as Assistant Director/Choreographer for the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival’s West Side Story, Crazy For You, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. From Gainesville, Georgia, he is a New York-based performer. He has worked regionally with theaters including DC’s Signature Theatre, Arena Stage, La Jolla Playhouse, Cleveland Playhouse, The Alley Theatre, Theatre Under The Stars, The Muny, Northern Stage, Pioneer Theatre Company, Virginia Stage Company, Seaside Music Theater, and Jacob’s Pillow. He’s also toured nationally with Something Rotten! and Roundabout Theatre Company’s Anything Goes. New York credits include: off-Broadway, the Metropolitan Opera, 65th and 70th annual Tony Awards, New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival and HBO’s “High Maintenance.” He is a member of the critically acclaimed Liz Gerring Dance Company. Miles Polaski (Sound Designer) is a sound designer, composer, and projection media designer. Previously at Merry –Go-Round, Miles designed Guys and Dolls (S.A.L.T Award nominee). New York credits include productions with: The Flea Theater (Drama Desk nominee and Jeff Award nominee for Fulfillment by Thomas Bradshaw), Transport Group, Playwrights Realm, National Asian American Theatre Company, Ma-Yi Theater Company, Pace Gallery, NYU Tisch, among others. Regional credits include productions with: Geva Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, American Theater Company, Red Tape Theatre (Jeff Award for Mouse in a Jar by Martyna Majok), Chicago Dramatists, The Gift Theatre, Collaboraction Theatre, Steep Theatre, and About Face Theatre, among others. Daniel Pugh (Keyboard) is a Central New York based pianist and composer and a graduate of Berklee College of Music. Since attending Berklee, Daniel has performed as a cruise ship musician and throughout Boston and CNY. Now based in Syracuse, Daniel has quickly worked his way up and is high in demand as a freelance pianist and keyboardist for a variety of groups, including Root Shock, Skunk City, MG3, Second Line Syracuse, the Silver Arrow Band, and in several duo settings. In addition, he spends his Sunday mornings in church as a music director and pianist.
Jose Santiago (Lighting Designer) is excited to return to FLMTF. Past designs include: Parade, Always… Patsy Cline, Smokey Joe’s Cafe at FLMTF; Evita, Spamalot at North Shore Music Theatre; Rent, Anything Goes, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Sister Act, Young Frankenstein, White Christmas at Gateway; Of Mice and Men at Bay Street Theatre; Man of La Mancha, La Cage aux Folles, Mame at The Wick Theatre. Brett Smock** (Director/Choreographer) was born in Kailua, Hawaii, the son of a US diplomat, and spent his first 17 years living overseas before landing in Washington DC, where he received his BA in Theatre from The American University. He began his tenure at MGR as a dancer in the 1992 season, and by 1996, a director/choreographer. Under the helm of Ed Sayles, he became General Manager/Associate Artistic Director in 2012 and in 2014, Producing Artistic Director. Director/Choreographer credits: over 100 domestic and international shows. Highlights: Last year’s acclaimed Parade, The Light In The Piazza (2015 Regional Premiere), the new Saturday Night Fever (2015 World Premiere) at FLMTF; Treasure Island (FLMTF 2016/Arkansas Rep 2013 Regional Premieres); The Mudge Boy (with Donna McKechnie and Sally Mayes); first European tour of Guys and Dolls; and with Stephen Sondheim’s blessing, a new version of Putting It Together at the Emelin Theatre. Producer/director/choreographer for the North American premiere of Tim Rice’s From Here To Eternity (FLMTF/2016 & Ogunquit Playhouse/2017). Adjunct faculty member at Hofstra University and Nazareth College. Actor’s Equity Association (AEA), The Dramatists Guild (DG), the National Alliance of Musical Theatre (NAMT) and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC). Matt Van Slyke* (AEA Assistant Stage Manager) has been an ASM with Merry-Go-Round Playhouse since the summer of 2013 and is thrilled to be spending another summer with the Festival. Other MGR credits include: Ghost: The Musical, Parade, Guys & Dolls, Million Dollar Quartet, Crazy for You, From Here to Eternity, Saturday Night Fever, West Side Story, Mary Poppins, and The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Outside MGR, Matt has been an SM PA for The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Stage Manager for readings at The New York Theater Workshop and Lark Play Development Center in NYC, and most recently Stage Managed Leading Ladies and The Price at Gulfshore Playhouse.
