Artistic Staff / Musicians
Terrance E. Caviness Jr. (Trumpet 1) is Director of Bands at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, New York and adjunct Professor of Music at SUNY Oswego. Mr. Caviness conducts the Allegro Youth Wind Ensemble at Syracuse University and is an active guest conductor and clinician. He maintains a very successful private trumpet studio and is an active professional musician, performing with the Syracuse Symphony, Symphoria, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, and numerous other local and touring groups.
Jen Grunfeld (Assistant Stage Manager) is thrilled to return to the festival for her third season. Past shows with MGR include: Oklahoma!, From Here to Eternity, Treasure Island, Million Dollar Quartet, Smokey Joe’s Café, West Side Story, Light in the Piazza, Saturday Night Fever, and Sweeney Todd. Other stage management credits include: Roundabout Theatre Company’s Spring Gala and Benefit Reading of The Man Who Came to Dinner, Lincoln Center Theatre’s Directors Lab 2016, Saturday Night Fever and Broadway Christmas Wonderland (national tours), All Aboard! Richard J. Hinds (Director/Choreographer) Broadway & Tour credits include Come From Away (Associate Chor.), Disney’s Newsies (Associate Dir.), Jekyll & Hyde (Associate Dir./Chor.), Il Divo: A Musical Affair (Assistant Dir.), 9 to 5 (Associate Dir.), and Disney’s High School Musical (Associate Chor.). Richard worked on the off-Broadway and West End productions of Here Lies Love (Associate Dir./Chor.). His regional theatre credits include La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, Paper Mill Playhouse, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Seattle 5th Ave. Theatre. Dan Mullarney (Assistant Music Director) is excited to be a part of his first Merry-Go-Round show. He is a Music Teacher at Southern Cayuga Schools, a graduate from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, and will be attending Ithaca’s Conducting in Musical Theater and Opera Master’s program in the fall. Over the last year he has worked with Merry Go Round’s youth theatre education program by accompanying for their summer Musical Theatre Intensive and their MGR Junior Stars.

Miles Polaski (Sound Designer) is a New York based sound designer, composer, and projection media designer. New York credits include productions with The Flea Theater (Drama Desk nominee and Jeff Award nominee for Fulfillment by Thomas Bradshaw), Transport Group, Playwrights Realm, National Asian American Theatre Company, Ma- Yi Theater Company, Pace Gallery, and MBL Productions, among others. Chicago credits include productions with Chicago Shakespeare, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, American Theater Company, Red Tape Theatre (Jeff Award for Mouse in a Jar), Chicago Dramatists, The Gift Theatre, Collaboraction Theatre, Steep Theatre, and About Face Theatre, among others. Lizz Picini (Associate Choreographer) is represented by Clear Talent Group in New York City, is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association, and has the privilege of teaching full-time at Broadway Dance Center. She is delighted to return to Auburn as the Associate Choreographer for Guys and Dolls after playing Tess in Crazy For You, Gertie Cummings/Dance Captain in Oklahoma!, and performing in On The Town, all at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse. Additional performing credits include Ruth/Associate Choreographer in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Clarice in West Side Story, both at Ogunquit Playhouse; and Disney’s world premiere musical When You Wish, Beauty and the Beast, and Sister Act, all at Tuacahn Amphitheatre. She is thankful to be living the dream!
Matt Van Slyke* (AEA Assistant Stage Manager) has been an ASM with Merry-Go-Round Playhouse since the summer of 2013 and is thrilled to be spending another summer with the Festival. Other MGR credits include: Million Dollar Quartet, Crazy for You, From Here to Eternity, Oklahoma, Saturday Night Fever, West Side Story, Mary Poppins, and The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Outside MGR, Matt has been an SM PA for The Radio City Christmas Spectacular (Nashville Tour 2013, 2014), stage managed many readings at The New York Theater Workshop and Lark Play Development Center in NYC, and most recently, Stage Managed Titan Theatre Company’s King Lear at Queens Theater in the Park.
