Merry-Go-Round Playhouse

Inspired by the books of Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson, including the best seller Growing Up Lutheran. Written by Greta Grosch. Music and Lyrics by Drew Jansen.

The Church Basement Ladies are back in the final installment of the series! It’s 1979 and the day of the church’s Centennial Celebration. As the parishioners gather for food and fellowship, the church ladies reminisce about their lives through a series of fun-filled flashbacks and brand new musical numbers. Share in the hilarity as the church basement ladies sing and dance their way through the ages!

Meet the Cast

Teri Adams (Karin) is delighted to visit the MGR and the Finger Lakes for the first time! A Kansas City native, Teri has been with MTM since 2006, and is a member of the national touring company. Regional credits include Ruthless!, Dirty Blonde, Baby, Blues In The Night, 25th Annual Putnam Co. Spelling Bee, and The World Goes Round. Adams starred in the World Premiere of Gregg Coffin's Right Next to Me, and has appeared as a soloist at The Kennedy Center. She's a proud member of Actors' Equity Association.

Michael Antico (u/s Pastor) is both humbled and thrilled to be a part of this production. Originally a Massachusetts native, he now considers Auburn his home. Michael has a diverse performance resume ranging from Shakespeare to Stand-up, and puppetry to Renaissance Faires. He is a long-time veteran of Merry-Go-Round's Youth Theatre and is also an instructor at Auburn Public Theater. It is his hope that the rich arts community in CNY continues to flourish. Michael extends his gratitude to both Lisa and Brett for their confidence.

Jessica Cantu (u/s Beverly) is delighted to return to Merry-Go-Round and The Church Basement Ladies for the Last Potluck Supper! MGR: South Pacific, Ragtime, Funny Girl, Church Basement Ladies. Jessica was a member of Merry-Go-Round Youth Tour and served as the Box Office Manager for the Playhouse. Jessica currently serves on the board of the Cayuga County Convention and Visitors Bureau and is the Catering Sales Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn.

Rebecca Carr (u/s Vivan, Mavis, Karin) is pinching herself, being back in this theater after riding the original Merry-Go-Round as a girl, ushering faithfully in her teens, and being bitten by the Performing Bug as an apprentice before leaving for college. Ever since, she has been singing, performing in opera, oratorio and recital in the US and abroad, teaching voice (with former students providing ample material to draw upon for this role), and creating artisan jewelry (Belle Pietre~Stone Jewelry of Operatic Proportions). She performs in memory of her Moomie.

Sandra Karas (Vivian) returns to MGR, having last appeared as Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret and is proud of her many performances at MGR over the years where roles include Dolly/Hello Dolly!, Meg/Damn Yankees, Adelaide/Guys and Dolls, Tottendale/Drowsy Chaperone and those nuns in Nunsense and Patent Leather Shoes. Other credits include Duchess of York in Richard III in New York, several productions at Syracuse Stage, regional theatre, film and television, most recently Blue Bloods. She dedicates her performance to Christina, Alexander and Andrew.

Becca McCoy (Mavis) National Tour: Menopause the Musical (Iowa Housewife). National Sit-Downs: Disenchanted! (Sleeping Beauty) Straz Center, FL; Menopause the Musical (Earth Mother) Eldorado Showroom, NV; Motherhood the Musical (Brooke) Straz Center, FL, Merrimack Hall, AL and Trinity Rep, RI. Chicago Theatre: Seussical (Sour Kangaroo) Chicago Shakespeare; A Moon for the Misbegotten (Josie) and Candida (Candida) Illinois Theatre Center. Regional Theatre: Riverside Theatre, Drury Lane Oakbrook, freeFall Theatre, American Stage, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, New American Theatre, Charleston Stage Company, Round Barn Theatre. Jessica Taige (Beverly, Dance Captain) is ecstatic to be reuniting with her Church Basement family at Merry-Go-Round, having previously played Beverly in "A Second Helping". She had also appeared regionally in such roles as Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Esther (Meet Me in St. Louis), and Minnie Faye (Hello Dolly). Thank you so much to Merry-Go-Round for having me back and to my family for the never ending love and support.

Jeffrey Arnold Wolf (Pastor) is ecstatic to be making his Merry-Go-Round debut with this wonderful show. He recently completed a lengthy run at The Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI playing the lovable butcher, Lazar Wolf, in Fiddler on the Roof and Boolie in Driving Miss Daisy. His goal is to eventually play every character role ever written. He thoroughly enjoys what he does and could not do it without the love and support of his family and wife, Michelle. Enjoy!
