Creative Team Bios

ADAM DYER — Choreographer, Newsies Adam has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, working on some of the biggest budget and boundary breaking visual spectaculars in New York, Las Vegas, and China. His career highlights include creating and directing the aquatic theatre hit HiRO for Royal Caribbean Entertainment, performing on Broadway in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, and in large scale water-based cirque shows Le Reve and The House of Dancing Water as an acrobat, aerialist and dancer.  As a choreographer, he has recently brought to life original interpretations of the beloved musicals Fiddler on the Roof and Godspell. He has provided all new choreography for Footloose and Cinderella at the iconic Sundance Summer Theatre and Disney’s Newies at Hale Center Theatre. Adam has created critically acclaimed aerial straps, ropes and concert dance pieces for Brigham Young University’s Contemporary Dance Theatre where he currently serves as Associate Chair and Assistant Professor of Contemporary Dance.

PAIGE FAURE — Choreographer, Jersey Boys Paige is a theatre maker and performer in NYC. Her Broadway credits include A Beautiful Noise: the Neil Diamond musical, the latest Tony winning revival of Company, the title role in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CinderellaMiss SaigonBullets Over Broadway starring Zach Braff, and How To Succeed in Business… featuring Daniel Radcliffe. She’s toured internationally with five other Broadway shows, premiered new works regionally at The Old Globe, Papermill Playhouse, The REV and the Kennedy Center, and has created choreography alongside some of the best in the business, including Steven Hoggett, Josh Rhodes, Casey Nicholaw, Susan Stroman, Lorin Latarro and The REV’s Brett Smock. Paige has a ten year old son, Hank, and is an advocate for parenting as a creative/performer, as well as a certified yoga instructor.

PATRICK O’NEILL — Choreographer, Bandstand Patrick was last represented on Broadway as the Associate Choreographer of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical School of Rock, which he also staged in Sydney, Melbourne, and Seoul. Upcoming: Radio930, a new musical about a group of young rebels in East Germany who use banned rock music to bring about the fall of the Berlin Wall, On The Edge, which premieres in London in 2024, and Vacancy, a story that sheds light on the life of Norman Bates from the Hitchcock classic, ‘Psycho’. Other favorites: On a Clear Day…starring Harry Connick, Jr. (Broadway), Ever After (Alliance Theatre), Barry Manilow’s Harmony (Ahmanson Theatre & Alliance Theatre), The Heart of Rock and Roll celebrating the music of Huey Lewis (The Old Globe), and The Nutty Professor (directed by Jerry Lewis). ALAN J. PLADO – Music Director, Jersey Boys Alan has a long history with Jersey Boys, having conducted its national tour, off-Broadway run, as well as regionally (Mill Mountain Theater).  MD for the Broadway national tours of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Dirty Dancing, Legally Blonde, Elf The Musical, Memphis.  Broadway:  Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Kinky Boots.  Off-Broadway:  We’re Still Hot, Just a Matter of Time, The Last Word, Shooting Star (NYMF).  For The REV:  Beautiful, A Chorus Line.  Other regional theaters include Ogunquit Playhouse, Alabama Shakespeare, Arizona Theatre Company, Laguna Playhouse, Theater Aspen, Geva Theater.  Alan also serves as the Music Supervisor for Menopause The Musical, and internationally, was the music director/arranger for the show on the West End (Shaw Theater) and in Dublin, Ireland.  He is a long-time member of AFM (Local 802) musicians’ union.  For my Dad.

BRETT SMOCK — Producing Artistic Director/Director, Jersey Boys, Newsies, Bandstand, and May We All Brett began his tenure here at The REV in 1992 when he appeared on the Playhouse stage as a dancer in two consecutive seasons. In 1994, he became a Playhouse choreographer and, in 1996, a resident director/choreographer. Throughout the early 2000s, Brett balanced his work at the Playhouse alongside his freelance career as a director/choreographer based in both NYC and LA. In 2011, Brett came aboard as the General Manager/Associate Artistic Director and, in 2014, was appointed the Producing Artistic Director. To date, Brett has been at the helm of over 95 shows here on the Playhouse stage. Recent highlights include the acclaimed productions of Catch Me if You Can, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, State Fair, 42nd Street, Almost Heaven, Footloose, Grand Hotel, Working, Cabaret, Parade, The Light In The PiazzaOn The Town, Chicago, and the new Saturday Night Fever. Brett has directed and/or choreographed over 70 shows regionally and around the world. In addition, he has staged various workshops, readings, and developmental productions of 17 new musicals including The Mudge Boy (NYC Workshop), Streets of America at the Kennedy Center, and They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? at Moscow Art Theatre, Russia. He has staged new musical revues for Cunard’s QE2 World Cruise, special events in 16 states, Mexico, and Indonesia, tribute galas for Presidents Bush and Clinton, and a host of celebrity fundraiser events. A longtime advocate for arts education and young talent development, Brett teaches workshops and masterclasses in NYC and has served as adjunct faculty at several colleges and universities. Currently, in addition to his role as Producing Artistic Director of The REV, Brett is the director and a proud producer of Tim Rice’s newest musical, From Here To Eternity which made its North American premiere here at The REV in 2016 and its US regional premiere at the Ogunquit Playhouse in 2017, followed by a NYC workshop in 2019 and, most recently, the 2022 London revival at the Charing Cross Theatre in London. Brett will direct the Midwest premiere of From Here to Eternity at The Skylight Music Theatre in Milwaukee in March 2024. Producing highlights include The REV’s commercial collaborations including Anne of Green Gables (Goodspeed ’22/Pre-Broadway), Loch Ness (Regional/pre-Broadway), Austen’s Pride (upcoming NYC/Regional productions)and over 40 new musicals at The PiTCH. Brett lives in Auburn, NY and New York City and is a member of The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC).  Actor’s Equity Association (AEA), and The Dramatists Guild (DG).

JEFF THEISS — Music Director, Newsies and May We All Jeff is excited and grateful to return to The REV for his 16th season! He was the Music Director for The Band’s Visit on Broadway, which won 10 Tony Awards and a Grammy Award. Additional Broadway credits include: The Book of Mormon and Lysistrata Jones. Jeff was also an NYC audition pianist for such casting directors as Tara Rubin, Stewart/Whitley, and Wojcik & Seay. Favorite REV credits include: ParadeThe Light in the PiazzaThe Hunchback of Notre Dame and Sweeney Todd.  He is currently an Assistant Professor and Music Director of the Theater Department at Ithaca College. ALEXANDER TOM — Music Director, Bandstand Alexander is the music supervisor for the Montclair State University’s BFA Musical Theatre program. A multi-hyphenate artist, he is a member of MUSE (Musicians United for Social Equity), BMI Lehman-Engel Musical Theatre Advanced Workshop, Local 802 AFM, and art Equity’s inaugural 2020 BIPOC Leadership Circle. Audition FAQs

Will I need to be vaccinated in order to work at The REV?
The REV strongly encourages all current and prospective employees to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations.
Are EMC points available?

EMC credit will no longer be granted as Actors’ Equity has discontinued the program.

Does The REV provide housing?
Yes, we provide housing for all out-of-town employees or artists living beyond 50 miles of Auburn.
Do you pay your actors?
We are a professional theatre and as such, everyone who is hired to work for the company is compensated.
How long is the rehearsal process and where do the rehearsals take place?

Our shows rehearse for 15 days, from first day of rehearsal to opening night. Rehearsals take place in rehearsal studios located at our administrative offices in Auburn, NY.

When will callbacks take place?

If you attend auditions in Auburn, NY, dance callbacks will be held the same day as your audition. You may be asked to attend additional callbacks in NYC. NYC callbacks will be held by appointment throughout the month of February.

What should I sing?

Don’t overthink it. Sing material you love and that shows you off. Let us do the rest.
